"When you are living the best version of yourself, you inspire others to live the best versions of themselves."
- Steve Maraboli, Unapologetically You
I was inspired to write this blog post because of the big changes I did with my life over the past weeks.
Changes I never knew I needed, but made me become the best version of myself.
It is amazing what a few things can drastically change your lifestyle.
And trust me, life begins when you step out of your comfort zone.
And when I stepped out of it, and faced the world with different eyes, I knew:
I knew that 2018 is going to be one of the best years of my life.
I apologize for my absent on this blog or social media in general, I put my life on under construction and focused on myself and discovering the real me so I can be here today: offering you the best version of myself and be the most confident I have ever been.
I never been this inspired and I cannot brush this smile off of my face, I want to encourage everyone that it is never too late to make your life the most wonderful it can be.
When I was a child I always wanted to become an inspirational adult, so here I am dedicating myself to inspire you.
Disclaimer: I want you to know that doing some changes in your life doesn’t mean that there is something wrong with the YOU now. Each and every person has a lot of good sides that you should never let go of. Don’t be stubborn and say that your life is good enough as it is, which it may be true, but you can always improve the quality and become a much more kinder person and help the community around you.
There is no one-way method of achieving this, everyone has their own path to carry and their own demons to confront.
Maybe you are having a hard time expressing your emotions or letting people in into your life, maybe you hate that job you have, maybe you are too obsessed with losing weight, maybe you just never want to leave the house – only you know the answer. You have to take a step back, redefine what you really want and take action.
Personally, the things I wanted to work on was that I felt I was too needy and sometimes selfish. Which I think a lot of people can relate to.
I think the goal is first of all, loving yourself, which might sound selfish but it is not selfish at all. It is one of the most important if not THE most important thing, to love yourself and put yourself first.
In order to love others, you have to love yourself first. – read that again.
When you are inspired, you inspire others. When you are happy, you have the power to make others happy, when you are succeeding, you have the power to help others succeed. Laugh a lot, and be confident!
I think confidence is so sexy - and it’s not about your looks, what you say, it’s about your attitude.
Here are just a few of the things I did to improve my lifestyle and myself, I will not talk about EVERYTHING I did because I feel this post will be long enough already, and I will not go into details. Remember, you don’t have to do what I did, this worked for me, but something else might work for you. This is only to inspire you to create your own guide map of becoming the best version of you!
The people around you
Family - is the most important thing, I never been this close to my family, I love spending time with them and I am so happy to have them - if you think you and your family are distant, make everything in your power to reconnect and share a strong bond, they won't be here forever and they are the ones who love you the most - what I did, was go with my mother on a fun trip to London for a few days and experience traveling together which was amazing, go on family BBQ on weekends, but you don't have to do anything extra, doing ANY activity counts! It's not about what you do, where you do it, it's about doing it together!
Friends - I am guilty for not caring much about friendships in the past years, It's something I didn't know I missed until I experienced it again - I started reconnecting with all the people I once cared so much and reestablished a strong bond again and started making new friendships as well - ever since then things were amazing, we went on road trips, stayed some days on the mountains, and just hang out in general as much as possible. Now I see how important friendships are, it's something I won't neglect again. If you feel the same just remember, quality over quantity!
Lovers - they don't teach you how to love in school, it's something you have to learn on your own, and you're going to make a lot of mistakes over and over again, and that's okay! If there is something I learned, and maybe can help you, it that real love is about choosing to love. What does that mean? You know when you start falling in love with a person and you have all these butterflies and you think everything is rainbow and flowers – when that time wears off, you learn about all the flaws the other person has, things that you are not used to and things you have a hard time accepting - as women, we have the tendency to fix things, we are fixers. For some it may take a while to understand, for some it takes years to understand, but the important thing is that you DO have to understand: True love is loving the person for who he/she is. Accepting all the flaws, insecurities, mistakes the other person has. And still thinking that he/she is perfect just the way they are. Loving them for who they really are.
Stop changing people. Stop telling them what to do, yes you can support them and be there for them when they want to change, but if they don't, you accept it and that is what true love is. - If there's something you can take from this blog post it's this. Listen to their needs and understand them - I hope you take my advice and I wish you best of luck!
Strangers - I work with people every day, I try to be kind with everyone. You never know how a smile can make somebody’s day better. So smile to people, be kind, help them if they need it, be considerate. There is so much things you can do - but I'll talk about it more a little later.
As you might already know I am vegan. I am a strong believer that it's very important what you eat and how you treat your body. Of course veganism is not something I have just started, I've been vegan for a few years now and I feel amazing, never going back. This is something you can try and believe me, it's life changing, cannot recommend it enough. Just read my Vegan blog posts.
What I did recently however is that I took some vegan cooking classes and bought vegan cook books (So proud of Lauren Toyota’s first cookbook: 101 vegan comfort classics) and started absolutely loving to cook. It actually became a passion of mine and I mastered doing the most delicious dishes ever.
Running - I HATE running. I always hated running. But I started doing it. I believe if you do every day something you hate, you're going to hate it less. And I won't stop until I LOVE it. I don't do it because I need to, I don't do it to lose weight, I am perfectly happy with my body. I am doing it because it makes me feel proud of myself for achiving something with hard work. And I swear one of these days I'm going to love it.
I love my job. It is truely one of the things I am so blessed with. I love what I do, I go with pleasure and excitement, and it just changes every aspect of your life! If there is a job you are not happy with, quit, quit and find something you love - there is nothing more rewarding. And if you are not sure what you want to do, don't worry, I've been there too, eventually you'll find it, and when you do, you will know it for sure.
Helping the community - I really dedicated myself in helping others around me. I always thought being vegan is enough - which yes it helps, but you can do so much more! Everybody has their own way of helping others, this is what I did: I donated 60% of my cloths (really nice quality cloths) to the homeless and orphanage, I made sandwiches to the homeless people, I donated money to an animal sanctuary (cow, pigs, chickens, etc), I bought A LOT of food for a dog center in my town (a place that owns over 100 dogs), I took a homeless old man to a restaurant and payed the bill, adopted a sick cat - there is SO MANY things you can do! Even if you don't have the possibility to give. There is always something you can do to help - go and donate blood, save a life. Not only I am making somebody's day brighter, but it really makes me feel good aswell.
Give GOOD to the Universe, and the Universe will give GOOD to you back!
Travel - I love traveling, I love discovering, I love road trips, I love plane flights, I love spending the night sleeping in a Dunkin Donuts (don't ask), I was made to travel and make friends all around the world.
Skydiving - I wanted to try something extreme, something that would really kick me out of my comfort zone and then I thought: What is more extreme than jumping out of an airplane 3500m above and falling at a speed of 200km/h?
How was it? It was BLISS, the most blissful experience of my life! But don't worry, a blog post about it is coming out soon!
Music and dancing - Anyone who knows me knows my obsession with music. Music is life - there is nothing more to it - When I put my headphones on, I am in my own world. It is a special bond and I cannot imagine a day going by without it. I did dancing a good ten years of my life and it's something that is a part of me. The truth is, you don't need a stage to dance. You can dance in your room, in the middle of a forrest (yes I sometimes do that), at a party, celebration - dancing and music will be always great lovers - they are the perfect pair, they complete each other. The world is your stage!
Just put that Demi Lovato - Sorry not sorry and start bouncing.
There are many more activities but as I said, I won't write them all today!
I was always focused on making plans, creating the future, dreaming, which is amazing! But I also learned how to enjoy the present and experience every moment of it.
At the end of the day, do what you love and what makes you feel good!
This is the new improved Sandra, thank you for reading and see you in the next post!
