Whenever I tell someone that I am vegan, I am asked a million questions so I decided to share with a post, why I am vegan.
I thought a lot about how to spread the vegan message without sounding rough but it really is a serious topic and I have so much to say, so here it is.
Keep in mind, I don't want to attack anyone, I just want to bring awareness and help you understand why we choose this lifestyle as vegans. I met tons of close minded people who just simply refuse idea of veganism, so if you are one of them, I will ask you politely to leave, we don't need your comments of how much you love bacon, clearly this is not the article for you.
Veganism has changed my whole life and gave me a clearer perception of the world. I am completely dedicated to this lifestyle and very proud to call myself vegan.
However, I wasn't always vegan. I was raised in a family that didn't know anything about veganism. My country's traditional foods are full of meat and dairy. I don't even know one single person from my city who is even vegan. So how did I become vegan?
Sadly, it took me 20 years.
From the beginning, I was raised on meat and dairy. Made me believe that a meal is not a meal without some chicken in it. I was completely brainwashed, just like all of us were or still are at some point. But I do not blame my family, thus they were raised the same and just spreading the same traditions to their own children.
As a child you must eat what's on your plate. Adults teach you that it's food, they don't really give you the insight what that 'food' has gone through in order for you to eat it.
Children love all animals. We were born with compassion towards other beings. I guess we just choose to not think the horror an animal goes through when being killed. I bet if we had to haunt our own food, like in the wild, most people would be already vegan by now.
So how exactly did I wake up to reality?
People don't realize what animals go through in these "farms". What made me want to go vegan and STAY vegan wasn't until I was SEEING reality with my own eyes, these horrifying videos of how these beautiful souls being are slaughtered and tortured for our own selfish convenience.
These videos are very hard to watch and leaves you with scars.
God knows how many times I had to pause and close it. But there is a saying from one of the most inspirational vegan legends, Gary Yourofsky: "If it's not good enough for your eyes, why is it good enough for your stomach?" and I followed by his saying. So no matter how painful it was to watch or how much I would cry watching, I didn't pause.
I looked in those eyes that were asking "Why?" and I didn't have an answer. The meat and dairy industry, is hell on Earth.
Every second: fish, chicken, ducks, pigs, cows, rabbits, geese, turkeys, sheep, goats, cattle, buffaloes, horses, etc are being killed.
More than 150 Billion animals are slaughtered every year.
And people are freaking out that China kills and eats dogs and cats? What makes the difference between a dog and a pig? You think pigs are not smart or that they don't feel pain? It makes it okay to kill pigs because they are not pets like dogs? Just because society decided that one is a pet and one is not?
People, open your eyes.
And just so you know, not all chinese are like that. Only some small cities from China have this "dog festival". I have a lot of chinese friends are they are all against this. But that is not what I want to talk about.
How can people be mad, when we do the same thing by killing pigs and chicken?
These animals want to LIVE. They are desperate to live one more day, one more hour, one more second. They never knew what love is, what kindness is. From the day they were born until the day of their execution, they live in fear and pain.
These animals don't have a voice, so we are their voice. And by writing this, right now I am their voice.
Guess what, a vegan diet is the healthiest diet in the world. It can even cure diseases. There is no secret anymore that meat is causing cancer, heart disease from clogged arteries, atherosclerosis, etc.
The human body is 100% herbivore. Plant eaters.
The length of our intestines are somewhere between 7 to 13 times the length of our torso, our trunk.
That's the same length of all herbivore animal intestines on this planet.
They're very long. But the length of the intestines on real meat eaters (tigers, bears, lions, etc) only 3 to 6 times the length of their torso.
They have a short intestinal tract, so they can push through quickly, decaying and rotting animal fresh (animal protein, cholesterol, saturated fat, trans-fatty acids) which is why it is impossible for any genuine meat eater to ever, clog for their arteries. Never happens to a real meat eater.
There is so much to be said.
Did you know that we can save our planet by becoming vegan? But that is a whole different article.
There are so many beneficials! But why is the world still not vegan?
P.S. Vegan food is damn delicious.
Being vegan is not only eating a plant based diet, Veganism is a lifestyle. After you made your first step in becoming vegan, you start giving up on cloths made of animals or products tested on animals.
When I shop cloths these are the fabrics I avoid:
The good words that I am looking for are:
There are a lot of products such as make up tested on animals.
My favorite vegan/cruelty free make up brands are:
Kat Von D
Anastasia Beverly Hills
Dose of colors
And many more
I have never felt more healthier.
I am filled with energy and I am literally glowing. Veganism truly changed me in the best possible way. I am so happy to have been awakened. I can proudly say that yes I love all animals.
Veganism is not the most you can do,
it's the least you can do.
